On May 14, 2025, Orrville Middle School hosted a career day for its eighth grade students. The event, “My Future Game Plan,” was designed for students to connect the relevance of their current learning to their future careers.

To the average middle school student, going to college or becoming part of the work force seems lightyears away. In fact, many middle school students are only aware of the careers within their parameters. In order to motivate and get students thinking about their futures, OMS provided students with the opportunity to choose three different sessions to attend which were designed with their individual career interests in mind. In total, there were over 40 presenters who volunteered to present information about how classroom learning connects to the workforce, which soft skills are most important for the job, which skills are needed to enhance job performance, and the required level of education to obtain their career of interest.
